Job Description
Introduction to the role
The Management Accountant will be responsible for the month end financial statements for their publishing divisions, ensuring that the Commercial Directors, Head of Finance (Publishing), Group Financial Controller and CFO have all the information they require.
Key tasks and accountabilities
Preparation of month-end profit and loss accounts for publishing divisions, ensuring revenues and costs are accurately stated
Producing and presenting divisional month-end packs, which provide key financial analysis and KPIs for relevant Commercial Directors and the CFO
Assisting finance team with all aspects of the accounts preparation, including posting journals, running reports, circulating and explaining monthly packs, updating the UK database
Performing month-end and quarter-end balance sheet reconciliations for all relevant accounts, providing detailed explanations for any variances
Prepare statements of earnings & costs on specific titles to enable payment to authors of their profit share
Assisting in the year-end statutory and ongoing internal SOX audits
Provide assistance and support as required during the annual budget process
Work closely with the relevant Commercial Directors and divisional teams to better understand actual and forecast data, providing assistance and support
Oversight of manual invoicing process
Ad hoc analysis for Group Finance and divisional teams
Skills and experience required
Commenced CIMA, ACCA or equivalent accountancy qualification
Industry experience in preparation of management accounts
Excellent Excel skills
Strong time management and organisational skills
Knowledge or experience of financial accounting software
Working knowledge of a finance function and commercial/business understanding
