Job Description

PURPOSE

We’re introducing this exciting role to lead the physical preparation of the England Men’s cricket team so that they are best prepared to perform at the highest level.

Applications will for this role will be open until 6th January 2023 with a view to hold online interviews week commencing 16th January 2023.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Optimise the physical performance of England Team players through the delivery of high quality of physical preparation and strength and conditioning coaching during the lead up to series and while on tour.

  • Work in collaboration with the England Team Physio and Doctor to create rehabilitation plans for injured players to ensure a timely return to international cricket performance.

  • Work closely with the Performance Nutritionist to ensure players are maximising their body composition to allow optimal cricket performance through creation of aligned nutrition and physical preparation plans.

  • Collaborate with the Science & Medicine Teams and coaching staff for all 18 First-Class Counties to provide integrated player support both on and off programme.

  • Work closely with the Physical Preparation Lead in the monitoring of England players whilst playing franchise cricket.

  • Contribute to the wider development of consistently high standards of physical preparation for England players within the England cricket pathway and across the First Class game.

  • Coordinate the delivery of performance science interventions e.g. heat acclimation, hydration, sleep and travel hygiene to the England Team while on tour.

  • Foster strong partnerships with external organisations for the benefit of the England team, S&C team and the wider Science and Medicine Department.

YOU’LL HAVE

  • Graduate qualifications in Sports Science and/or Strength & Conditioning

  • UKSCA accreditation

  • A track record of success in developing the physical qualities of elite athletes & teams within professional sport

  • Experience in travelling with teams and the management and delivery of S&C programs in remote locations

  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary Science & Medicine Team

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

  • Experience of coordinating integrated player support initiatives

  • Experience working in elite cricket

  • Research and development experience in cricket and/or S&C fields

  • Strong computer skills

  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

  • Current basic life support training

  • Full Driver’s license
