Job Description

Project Description:

The space industry is one of the most rapidly growing industries in the UK. Every day, scientists and innovators are discovering new ways to use space technology to improve people’s lives. The SPINtern program provides an opportunity for students to get involved in this exciting industry and learn from some of the best minds in the business.

This research projects aims to perform an appraisal of the SPINtern program, particularly it seeks to uncover the level of impact that the programme had on previous graduates' professional choices and trajectories. This will be achieved by:

1.      Conducting in-depth interviews with past participants to explore how the programme has influenced their career choices; and

2.      Tracking the career pathways of all program alumni to examine how their professional trajectories have evolved following the programme.

The project will provide the following:

  • Insights on how the programme has impacted on professional choices and trajectories for its participants.

  • Identification of the career pathways of alumni, and the factors influencing these choices.

  • Insights into how such programmes can better support the professional development of young people.

  • An understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing past alumni

  • Evidence that can be used to make the case for funding to support students at a pivotal early stage in their career.

This project will be carried out in collaboration with colleagues at the UKSA.

  • Experience in planning, scoping, and delivering research projects.

  • Creativity, organisation, and an eye for details.

Salary £2,100 per calendar month gross, 5 days holiday to be taken during the placement.

How we work:

We strive to create a high trust environment that enables team members to bring their whole selves to work – this helps to create the foundations of an innovation culture. Our shared values are critical to this:

  • We care - for our people, our partners, and our planet

  • We connect - and engage with people and ideas

  • We learn - and grow, as people and as an industry

Underpinning this is our belief in great teams, our combined efforts will always deliver outcomes beyond that of any individual providing we are honest through debate, experiment and reflect, and create shared resolutions in support of our purpose. Live these values, work to our principles, take ownership to deliver, and we are certain you will thrive with us.

This job description set outs the skills and experience we believe are needed to be able to do this job but, research also tells us women are much more likely than men to take this list of requirements as absolute and self-select out of the process. If you think you can deliver this role then we want to hear from you, regardless of the boxes you didn’t tick.
