Job Description

This role ensures that our highest potential young players develop the foundations required to be successful at international level.  It also supports the development and preparation of our highest performing international players.  The role will work alongside the pathway coaching group and will contribute significantly to our ambition of becoming the number one team in the world across formats.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Assuming Head Coach responsibilities for the Young Lions (inc. U19) during training camps, series and ICC events.

  • In close collaboration with counties, expertly ‘case-managing’ individualised player programmes (training and match), ensuring high quality communication throughout.

  • Fulfilling the role of Young Lions Selector and contributing to player identification, selection and assessment activity.

  • Recruiting, leading and managing the Young Lions coaching and support team, ensuring the provision of international specific experiences and expertise.

  • Working with the Performance Director, leading the strategic planning and ongoing review of the Young Lions.

  • Providing leadership and direction to the ECB Super-4 Competition.

  • As required, providing coaching support at Lions and England level.

  • Contributing as an active team member of the pathway coaching group by bringing a diverse and expert perspective, enabling the development of world’s best practice.

     

YOU’LL HAVE

  • Achieved or will be working towards ECB Advanced Coach (Level 3) qualification, with Specialist Coach (Level 4) qualification desirable (or international equivalent).

  • A proven track record of coaching and leading elite teams and players.

  • A deep understanding of international and First-Class cricket demands.

  • Demonstrable expertise in areas associated to learning and development, particularly for adolescent cricketers.

  • Demonstrable expertise in areas associated to player identification, selection and assessment.

  • The ability to devise, deliver and lead coaching programmes for individuals, groups and teams.

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of sports science.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • High levels of motivation and the resilience required to thrive in a varied and demanding high performance role.

  • Capability and appetite for extensive domestic and overseas travel.
