Job Description

Please note this is a hybrid role based on the successful candidate working at least two days a week in our London office. Remote contracts would not be considered for this role.

Purpose of job:  

The role is responsible for developing and implementing the community fundraising strategy for all fundraising campaigns and activity, including Red Nose Day. The Senior Community Fundraising Manager is expected to be an expert on the needs of Comic Relief’s community audiences and partners, and able to identify and achieve new income opportunities in this area.  

 Interviews are expected to occur from the 5th-8th of June.

Key responsibilities:  

  • Lead on community fundraising, working with the data and audience resource to identify key fundraiser insights, using these to influence strategy and plans. 

  • Be the key point of contact and subject matter expert for the organisation on community fundraising.  

  • Develop strategies and plans for new fundraising activities for the community audience, including workplaces, families, individuals, and community groups.  

  • Develop strategies that meet annual fundraising targets and KPIs and develop business cases to secure budget and resource.  

  • Collaborate on marketing activities to identify marketing plans to maximise acquisition and retention. 

  • Lead on the development of impactful multi-channel stewardship plans, that deliver audience conversion and retention.  

  • Oversee the delivery of all products, ideas and propositions that will inspire and maximise fundraising.  

  • Work closely with the Senior Fundraising Associate to develop strategies to grow and maintain income from high value workplaces, organisations and networks.  

  • Brief and manage internal and freelance creative resource to create impactful fundraising resources that boost engagement, conversion and income. 

  • Monitor and report on expenditure, income and KPIs, working closely with data teams to identify trends and insight, and to proactively suggest new forms of engagement. 

  • Provide expert fundraising input across the organisation to actively shape fundraising propositions and ensure opportunities are maximised. 

  • Recruit and line manage staff as required. 

 

 People management:  

  • Proactively undertake business planning, prioritise activities and set clear and realistic objectives based on capacity, expertise and aspirations.  

  • Provide balanced, constructive feedback, undertake effective performance management to embed accountability and proactively support the professional development and growth of staff.  

  • Maintain regular two-way communication and dialogue with staff, ensuring information is cascaded and escalated as needed.  

  • Model an enabling, inclusive and empowering leadership style that builds a values-based culture throughout the charity  

Essential criteria:

  • Experience of delivering fundraising strategies and propositions for community fundraising audience.

  • Experience of developing new fundraising ideas that appeal to community fundraising audiences.

  • Knowledge of digital fundraising and digital communication channels.

  • Experience of utilising and reporting on data

  • Strong attention to detail – to produce work, which is consistently accurate, and which fits the purpose for which it was intended.

  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.

  • A proactive and positive individual with a “can do” attitude.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience of line managing and developing direct reports

  • Experience of leading high-income fundraising activations

  • Experience of delivering mass-participation propositions
