Job Description

An opportunity has arisen to join the publicity team within HQ, Mills & Boon and Pavilion, a division of HarperCollins Publishers, to work on innovative campaigns for some of the leading names in commercial fiction and non-fiction. Specialising in commercial fiction, non-fiction and innovative digital publishing, HQ is a young, ambitious, and award-winning imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.  HQ prides itself on publishing books that are bold, brave, inclusive, and always with a compelling story to tell.

Key Responsibilities

  • Circulating monthly press releases to journalists

  • Biannual catalogue creation

  • Creating and sending HQ and HQ Digital’s monthly blogger newsletters

  • Logging and circulating media coverage

  • Processing invoices and onboarding suppliers for the Publicity department

  • Collating group pitches to journalists and festival/event programmers

  • Inputting spends on the departmental budget

  • Minuting team meetings and circulating notes

  • Monitor blogger email inboxes for HQ, HQ Digital, Mills & Boon and Pavilion

  • Booking and arranging travel and accommodation for author tours and events

  • Management of weekly departmental publicity processes

  • Serving as the publicity contact for the public and media, via phone and email so that all communication with external stakeholders is efficient and given in a timely manner

Experience Required

  • A keen interest in working in working in Publicity

  • Experience or knowledge of the workings within a publishing house

  • Awareness of different media opportunities across print, broadcast and online

  • A genuine passion for commercial fiction and non-fiction books

Skills Required

  • A team player with excellent communication and people skills at all levels

  • A motivated self-starter with a ‘can-do’ attitude

  • Innovative and creative with a strong eye for detail

  • Energy, passion and enthusiasm to juggle workload under pressure, prioritise work effectively and be part of a dynamic team

  • Fantastic organisation skills

  • Due to the nature of the work, you may be required to work evenings and weekends.
