Job Description
Launched in 2013, Harper360 is HarperCollins’ successful international publishing programme. Harper360 UK provides a strong and harmonious global distribution across all genres and formats from HarperCollins global companies in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and India. Harper360 authors include TikTok sensation Tessa Bailey, rapper and businessman Curtis Jackson (50 Cent), Australia’s most loved home cook Donna Hay, self-help guru Mark Manson, US entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk and YA author Maureen Johnson.
As Publicity Manager you will join our small, friendly, supportive and inclusive team to create standout campaigns for a mix of international NonFiction, Fiction, Children’s and YA authors.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities
Develop innovative and creative sales driving publicity campaigns in line with key objectives across titles and brand authors
Target and secure review and feature coverage across relevant media, including newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, podcasts, online and social media
Plan and execute online and in-person author events to raise author profile and generate sales
Work closely with our international and UK Sales teams to ensure publicity opportunities are fully maximised and communicated across the wider business
Deliver high levels of author care, where relevant, present and communicate publicity campaigns and strategy to external stakeholders including authors, agents and managers
Stay in tune with trends and news within fiction and non-fiction publishing, to maintain an awareness of the market
Maintain, develop and grow relationships with key journalists, producers and new media contacts across all channels
Generate trade press releases and announce new title acquisitions where relevant
Be an active voice in divisional meetings
Manage key publicity tracking documents
Manage freelance publicists and organise payment, including raising POs and processing invoices
Oversee co-ordination and execution of the seasonal PR catalogues
Experience Required
Relevant campaign experience in an arts-based environment; evidence of planning and executing creative and innovative publicity campaigns
Proven track record in generating stand-out, industry leading publicity coverage across a variety of authors and campaigns
Proven network of press contacts and strong knowledge of media across broadcast, print and online
Experience with planning effective in-person tours and online events
Experience of using social media to drive awareness around authors and books
Skills Required
Excellent communication and people skills at all levels and ability to build and maintain first-rate relationships with external and internal contacts, including authors and agents
A team player who will thrive as part of a collaborative and dynamic team with the ability to be creative and innovative in a busy working environment
Professionally resilient and determined with a solutions mindset
A motivated and proactive self-starter with a ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure
A genuine passion for commercial fiction and non-fiction with an enthusiasm to find new and innovative ways to promote our books
Results-driven, with an ability to analyse effectiveness of campaigns against budget and sales
Strong attention to detail, with an understanding of the elements need to make a title commercially successful
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
