Job Description

About NearSt

NearSt’s mission is to get people back into high street shops. Our retail tech platform makes shops’ in-store inventory data visible to the internet, so that anyone anywhere can see what’s in stock in their local shop.

Companies like Google and Facebook use our technology to show live in-store inventory on their platforms to millions of shoppers searching nearby, sending online shoppers into physical stores.

The world of retail is changing dramatically, and shoppers are going online to find products offline, locally more than ever. Our fast-growing tight-knit team of 25 share a common vision that what we’re building will define the future of how everyone shops - a vision that’s secured backing from some of the best names in retail as we lead this wave of transformation.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced and high performing Account Executive to join our Sales team. You’ll play an integral role in ensuring NearSt is able to further accelerate our rapid growth in the UK market and beyond. Employing a consultative approach, you’ll need to become an expert in NearSt’s specialist area, show deep investigative skills to uncover the objectives of our customers and apply commercial acumen to collaboratively build business cases with retailers to win new business.

NearSt is quickly becoming a key technology partner in the retail market and, being at the front line of this, you’ll be responsible for building upon the good work from our early team. You’ll need to quickly build a deep understanding of the retail market, what motivates retailers to change, and how NearSt can play a bigger role.

Day-to-day you’ll be responsible for working with our Business Development Representatives to take qualified leads and continue their journey through our pipeline. Our deal sizes range from £10k-£250k, and you’ll be responsible for ensuring that retailers get the most out of all NearSt has to offer. As all retailers are different, you’ll have to show versatility to ensure we are delivering maximum value to every customer.

We’re looking for someone who’s demonstrated they can perform highly using a consultative approach in an existing sales team and is keen to take the next step in their career. This is a period of high growth for NearSt and you’ll be expected to take on responsibility and rapidly develop as a sales professional. We’re constantly learning and evolving ourselves, and will look to you to do the same.

If this all sounds like you, get in touch and we’d love to have a chat.

What you’ll be doing

  • Employ consultative sales techniques, taking qualified leads and nurturing them to build a business case and close deals

  • Dig deep by asking great questions to C-Level customers to clarify where our tech can deliver the most value and help retailers achieve their objectives

  • Develop relationships with retailers, learning their internal processes and stakeholders to ensure deals keep moving forwards and don’t get blocked

  • Lead meetings with many stakeholders from retailers within marketing, retail, digital and IT teams to coordinate projects and get NearSt implemented smoothly

  • Proactively recommend how to strengthen our proposition and sales materials to help you and the rest of the team close more business

  • Build relationships in the retail technology ecosystem to help you close deals

  • Be an enthusiastic expert on NearSt and turn your prospects into evangelising customers

  • Manage your own sales pipeline, using the best-in-class CRM tools that we provide

  • Report clearly and articulately on KPIs and exceed your targets

Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • You have 3+ years of consultative sales experience in a high-performing team to get you off to a flying start

  • You have experience handling large clients/deals and a track record of closing complex deals with many stakeholders to convince and stages to complete

  • You have a strong desire to learn both individually and to help your teammates grow

  • You’re results-oriented, driven, and regularly set yourself personal goals

  • You are confident having complex commercial discussions with customers, including negotiating pricing

  • You’re sharp, ask great questions, and able to think on your feet. You have great potential and capacity to grow into a future leader at NearSt.

  • You’ve got experience building great sales decks and tailoring them to specific audiences

  • You are excited about working in a startup, being adaptable, wearing different hats and getting stuck-in when needed

You are impact driven and motivated to make a real difference in the world

Benefits

NearSt is a collaborative place, which means we work together and no one gets left behind. We value positive, open communication and see learning as an essential pillar of our collective growth as a company.

At our Shoreditch HQ you’ll find music, food, plants, the occasional dog, and spaces for focussed and collaborative working. On Friday you’ll usually find us celebrating the week with a drink (or two!) as part of our weekly roundup too.

We are all united in our enthusiasm for what the future of retail holds (hear our CEO talk about this during our keynote at The Next Web), and believe we have an incredible opportunity to make a massive positive impact on the world.

  • Tech and Software 💻  Whether you’re working at home or HQ, you’ll benefit from the latest MacBooks and freedom to suggest the software that will help you do your best work, rather than updating spreadsheets and waiting for apps to load.

  • Stock Options 💰 Everyone should share a stake in our success, so if you’re a full time employee you’ll receive stock options when you join.

  • Wellness Budget 🧘 Stay at your best with a monthly wellness budget to spend as you please on things to keep you happy, healthy and well. Whether that’s on meditation apps, healthy food subscriptions, or gym memberships. If it keeps you well, it’s covered.

  • Mental Health Support 🌸 Taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health, so we provide professional and confidential support from the wonderful therapists at Spill, directly in Slack.

  • Personal Growth ✨ Develop personally and professionally with an annual budget of £1000  for you to upskill in ways that suit your own learning style - whether through books, training courses, or attending events.

  • Mindset 💭  We cultivate an entrepreneurial can-do mindset; brilliant ideas can and must come from everywhere in the business and we have working groups and regular meetings to ensure these ideas find their way to fruition.

  • Purpose 🌟  Work among a team who genuinely want to make a massive positive difference in the world.

  • Semi-Remote Team 🌍 We work as a semi-remote company, each team sets their own schedule based on their own needs, and all new joiners get a budget to make sure their home is set up as a great space to work. Our sales team work together at our Old Street office three days a week as a minimum, with the other two days flexible for you to decide where is best for the work you've got to do.

Startup life is a lot of work, but can and should be a ton of fun, so we’ve focussed hard on putting a great framework in place that lets people do their best work.
