Job Description
This is an excellent opportunity in the HarperFiction, HarperNonFiction, HarperNorth and Avon departments providing support to UK Key Accounts, International Territories and Group Sales functions as well as the wider UK and International Sales Teams.
The role will require an extremely high level of organisation and detail, as well as an ability to rapidly acquire a high level of competency on company systems and confident use of Microsoft Office applications. Most of all we’re looking for personable, bright individual who can learn quickly and use their own initiative.
The role offers solid experience, including shadowing the account handlers for major UK retailers and international territories, as well as the potential for the right candidate to begin looking after some accounts and/or territories directly. Working across the Fiction/NonFiction/North/Avon lists, it’s a real opportunity for gaining an unmatched insight into the commercial UK and International book markets. As well as being heavily customer-facing, the role will work on authors and brands from across the spectrum of commercial Fiction and Non Fiction publishing including Rebecca Kuang, George RR Martin, Bella Mackie, C. L. Taylor, Peter Kay and Felicity Cloake
Key Accountabilities
Supporting the Divisional Sales Directors and Head of International Sales
Administrative support to the Key Account Managers in home and export sales
Distribute advance samples/proofs to retailers/team
Create internal and external PowerPoint presentations
Answer internal and customer queries quickly and effectively
Order up samples
Organise and assist author signings
Ad-hoc administrative tasks e.g. formatting presentations, creating graphs and charts through Excel
Liaise with the Field Sales team, Divisional Sales teams, Export Sales teams, Marketing, PR, Distribution and Editorial, Commercial Finance
Process customer orders in a clear and timely manner, liaising with Glasgow distribution, credit control and customer services to ensure the effective distribution of orders so that invoices may be raised and books dispatched in the business’s best interests
Raise any required marketing PO’s
Generate order forms
Collate and distribute key sales materials for the export teams around the globe
Maintaining export metadata
Skills and experience required
Administrative experience
Confident in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Organised, efficient and proactive
Good attention to detail
Desirable
Previous experience in a Publishing role at Assistant level, ideally sales or work experience/internship
Sales or customer service experience
