Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a creative and highly organised individual to join the multi-award-winning marketing team within HarperFiction.
As Marketing Assistant you will provide significant administrative assistance to the dynamic and fast-paced marketing team at HarperFiction. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day processes within the marketing team, as well as providing creative input where needed. There will also be the opportunity to create content and manage some of the social and online channels within the HarperFiction division, in addition to working and supporting on campaigns across a wide range of commercial fiction, including crime and thriller, general fiction and science fiction and fantasy.
Key Accountabilities
Provide general administrative support for the department including budget administration and ensuring visibility of marketing spend is up-to-date and accurate, raising purchase orders, setting up new suppliers, helping with digital administration, and assisting on key author presentations.
Creation of social media assets and plans for authors and communities across the division.
Support the delivery of creative media and digital plans so that all activities are on time and within budget.
Supporting the team with day-to day administrative tasks e.g. expenses.
Liaison with key stakeholders within the division, Publicity, Sales and Editorial.
Work closely with other members of the marketing team, manage elements of author campaigns where relevant.
Create content and manage the social and newsletter schedule for the Crime & Thriller community, Killer Reads.
Key Skills/Experience
An avid reader with a passion for commercial fiction – from women’s fiction, crime and thriller, historical fiction and science fiction and fantasy.
Fantastic organisation skills and a strong eye for detail.
Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
Experience of design programmes (e.g. Photoshop or Canva).
A proactive and can-do attitude, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
A digitally savvy social media user, who is eager to assist with the division’s social media accounts and feed into campaigns run via these channels.
Experience of managing, developing or creating a social and online presence, even if it is your own.
Enthusiasm! We want someone who wants to grab this opportunity with both hands and is keen to work in the publishing industry.
A team player with excellent communication and people skills.
Active interest in the latest marketing trends and campaigns from across the book industry as well as the wider entertainment and media sector.
