Job Description
PURPOSE
To lead the recruitment, conversion, retention and development of recreational officials within a defined geographical region.

YOU’LL BE DOING
General
Work with Counties, ECB Network Partners and the ECB ACO to establish and implement an officials’ recruitment, conversion, retention and development strategy for each region.
Establish a volunteer workforce and structure to enable Regional and County plans to be successfully delivered.
Maintain accurate data on officials for each region – to include training completed and officiating level.
Recruitment
To work with Counties to:
Organise introductory training courses, delivered by ECB tutors.
Establish and implement strategies to recruit officials from traditionally under-represented backgrounds.
Establish and implement strategies to recruit young officials.
Conversion
To work with Counties, League and clubs to ensure that new officials are provided with immediate and appropriate opportunities after their introductory training.
To establish a support/mentoring programme for new officials.
Retention
To provide continuous learning opportunities for officials at every level.
To work with Leagues, clubs and the ECB ACO to provide appropriate appointment opportunities.
To establish support networks to help officials deal with ‘off-field’ matters e.g., discipline
Development
To manage the ECB’s umpire talent development programme in each region.
To work with Leagues and the ECB ACO to identify umpires with potential and opportunity to progress
To establish an umpire developer workforce
To provide regular learning
To oversee appointments to appropriate ECB competitions and matches
To manage promotion schemes in each region:
To identify those officials wishing to be considered for promotion
To provide regular learning opportunities to promotion candidates
To gather and analyse feedback from suitably trained developers
To make final decisions on officials’ promotions within the recreational game
