Job Description
About us
Established in 2021, Opportunity Green is a fast-growing not-for-profit organisation that helps to identify and unlock opportunities to tackle climate change. We build ambitious coalitions, support climate vulnerable countries in international negotiations and find innovative legal pathways to fight climate change.
Speculative applications
We are delighted that you have an interest in working with us. If you believe you have valuable skills to offer to one of our teams (Advocacy, Analytics, Climate Diplomacy, Communications, Legal, Operations, Senior Management, Trustees) at a time when there are no relevant roles being advertised, you are in the right place.
We have created this page for those who want to register their interest to be contacted about future roles at Opportunity Green that might match their skills and experience.
How this works
We ask you some basic questions to understand more clearly which roles you are interested in applying for when they become available.
We then request that you "apply" and submit your CV using the guidance below.
To minimise the risk of unconscious bias, we ask that applicants remove certain identifying elements from their CVs. If you do not remove these details, we reserve the right to withdraw your application from review.

Name – if needed, please use ‘Applicant’

We also reserve the right to withdraw your application from review if you use AI tools such as Chat GPT to write your CV.
Speculative applications are reviewed bi-monthly by the People and Culture team and also when a new role is being advertised. Candidates who's skills and experience demonstrate suitability for one of our roles will be tagged on our applicant tracking system. When new relevant roles at Opportunity Green are advertised, tagged candidates will be invited to apply.
Please note the following:
By applying for a speculative role you are registering your interest and giving us permission to notify you about relevant positions when they arise.
Due to the volume of speculative applications we receive we cannot provide you with any feedback on your CV.
Registering your interest here does not form any part of an official hiring process for a specific role. Submitting your CV here will not bypass our standard hiring processes.
If you submit your CV here and do not later receive an invite for a live role you believe you are suitable for, please do not be discourage from applying. In the application process we ask sift questions which may better exhibit your skills and experience.
We will keep your CV on file for up to 2 years. After this time your details will be removed from our system. If at any time you would like to make a request to be forgotten you can do so by emailing recruitment@opportunitygreen.org.
Diversity and inclusion
Diversity and inclusion are important principles at Opportunity Green. We believe that diversity and inclusion make teams stronger and more effective. We are committed to fair and equitable employment practices, and we are striving to ensure that a variety of voices and experiences are included in our organisation. Our commitment to diversity and our parental leave policy are available to view on our website, here.
We will consider all applicants who meet most or all of the essential competencies regardless of their identity or background. That said, we know that diverse candidates may be reluctant to apply for jobs where they don’t meet 100% of the criteria outlined in the job description. We encourage anyone to apply who can demonstrate the variety of skills and experiences relevant to meeting the requirements of our roles.
We recognise that many diverse experiences and perspectives are not represented in our current workforce, and are seriously underrepresented across the non-profit sector in general, and as such, we particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities, non-white people, people from marginalised backgrounds, and members of the LGBTQIA+ communities. We will use positive action under the Equality Act 2010 to appoint from these groups if two candidates are equally qualified. We also value flexible working and for the majority of our roles are open to those who would want to work part-time in this role.
To learn more about our application process and receive advice on how to prepare in such a way as to showcase your full potential, please find our Application Guide here. For speculative applications the section on CVs is the part you are likely to find most useful.
Unfortunately, if you do not already hold the right to work in the UK or Belgium and/or require sponsorship to continue working in either country Opportunity Green is unlikely to be able to consider your application at this time. We do not have the ability to sponsor visas in Belgium. In the UK we are able to do so within very strict parameters in accordance with the most up-to-date UK regulations. If you are invited to apply for a role please be sure to check the sponsorship details in the job advert should this apply to you.
