Job Description

HarperCollins is looking for a talented mid weight Designer to join the creative team responsible for 4th Estate and William Collins. Previous publishing experience is essential and the successful candidate will have a strong portfolio that demonstrates a creative approach to a range of briefs.

The role will involve creating covers across our Fiction and Non Fiction divisions, from brief to production ready files. You will also be expected to support the day to day duties of the department in producing any additional assets required e.g. for the marketing dept­­.

Responsibilities:

  • Design market-leading covers for a range of titles, across the Fiction and Non Fiction divisions

  • Support the day to day activities within the department, producing additional marketing assets, including posters, billboards as well as animated and video content for socials as and when required

  • Work closely with the Creative Director and Art Director to ensure quality solutions to briefs are delivered on time and on budget

 Skills Required:

  •  A portfolio that demonstrates a creative, versatile approach to design

  • Good understanding of publishing and trends in the market

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Photoshop and Indesign

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work to deadlines

  • Comfortable working on own initiative

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Creative and enthusiastic team player

  • Proactive and personable

  • Resilient and able to take feedback/direction from others

  • Keen reader - desirable but not essential
