Job Description

The Publicist will work alongside the PR Manager to support the implementation of innovative media and event campaigns for authors and brands across the Egmont portfolio – including new and backlist titles. Working closely with the wider Marketing and PR team, the aim is to support the successful implementation of integrated and innovative PR-led campaigns to drive profitable sales to raise and maintain the profile of our authors and brands.

The role:

  • Manage the implementation of successful and innovative PR campaigns across Egmont’s diverse portfolio, including Picture Books and Gift, Fiction, Brands and Licensing lists.

  • Plan and execute author events and school tour activity.

  • Monitor media coverage and competitor activity.

  • Handle media enquiries as well as proactively pitch feature ideas and other PR opportunities to journalists.

  • Attend regular meetings with journalists and influencers.

  • Assist in drafting and distributing press releases and media statements.

  • Arrange for authors to speak to the media.

  • Assist in the management of external agencies to ensure campaigns are carried out to a high standard.

  • Manage author award database and award submission.

  • Manage personal administration and organisation to a high standard.

Skills and Experience

  • Solid experience working in a publicity department and/or PR company.

  • Strong knowledge of the UK media landscape.

  • Capable of designing and executing creative and innovative publicity campaigns.

  • Passion and interest in children's books and publishing as a whole.

  • Knowledge of the children’s publishing landscape, the publishing industry, and licensing industry is desirable but not essential.

  • Experience with planning author tours/personal appearances would be desirable but not essential.

  • Able to prioritise a heavy workload.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Strong relationship building skills.

  • Team player.

  • Digital native
