Job Description
Do you like supporting the development of innovative and transformative ideas? Are you interested in being part of a busy Project Management team that help grow the UK Space sector? If so, you may be what we’re looking for.
We are a growing innovation organisation and we’re working on a portfolio of challenging and exciting projects. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to work on the successful delivery of complex and technical projects at the Catapult. This role may be project managing our large technical development with our technical teams or another transformative project in delivery.
Our Project Managers work on a variety of projects that will challenge and help you grow in a unique environment. You will work closely with our technical teams and within one of our four Missions: Sustainable Earth, Connected Earth, Autonomous Earth and Beyond Earth.
Key responsibilities:
Lead and build relationships with funding and customer bodies and also identify and work with the initiative/project sponsor and Business Strategy Leads on expansion and extension opportunities that arise as a result of the project delivery
Managing project plans
Setting and keeping to project schedules
Effective resourcing
Managing project budgets and expenditures
Engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, and organising and participating in key stakeholder meetings
Meeting project deadlines and deliverables
Risk profiling and management to allow clear decision making
There may some line management required so experience of line management favourable
Space Sector knowledge is not essential
Skills & Experience requirements:
We are looking for project managers who have experience in leading projects ideally in the technology, innovation or R&D area
Experience of delivering Complex and Transformative projects (multiyear/multimillion)
Experience in developing opportunities for project expansion and extension
Strong demonstrable experience of budget management and reporting on multiple projects
Strong demonstrable experience of RIDAL management to inform contingency and reshaping/restructuring of project delivery aligned to the strategy.
Experience in managing a portfolio of projects and/or projects with large consortiums.
Effective change management methods where required.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines and work on multiple deliverables simultaneously.
Has undertaken formal Project Management training and gained relevant qualifications in Prince2/APM/Agile.
Takes responsibility for personal development through conduct of continuous project management development
The ability to lead projects to success and motivate your project teams.
Effective change management methods where required.
Effective verbal, written and presentation skills with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
The ability to effectively manage stakeholder engagement, tailoring communication style accordingly.
Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project and SharePoint
In depth knowledge of the project management lifecycle and demonstrate competencies in applying it in a project context
Organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines and work on multiple deliverables simultaneously.

You are successfully managing and shaping multi-faceted projects involving multiple teams, organisations ranging from academia, small/medium enterprises through to large multi-nationals
You are building strong relationships with large consortiums and our key funding partners such as UK Space Agency and ESA.
You are managing and delivering the whole life cycle of a project with positive feedback from funding partners on working relationship and delivery
The organisation and the PM Team have an excellent understanding of funding body processes
You have contributed to and identified ways to streamline our bid to operations process
