Job Description

The County Safeguarding Advisor will support, challenge, advise and train the ECB’s partners in the cricket network on their safeguarding responsibilities and practice. This will enable the ECB’s partners to improve their safeguarding compliance and to be able to demonstrate they have done so.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Be main point of contact for FCC, CCB and NCCC safeguarding team as per county allocations to CSA 

  • Travelling three times per week with overnight stays where necessary

  • Provide back up support within safeguarding team of CSA’s to ensure all counties have a point of contact and do not wait more than 24 hours for a response  

  • Ensure each county allocated to CSA is visited in person, a minimum of 4 times a year to fully support the FCC, CCB and NCCC to achieve the safeguarding standards set out in CPA2

  • Ensure each county meeting follows a consistent procedure with an agenda set, meeting report completed, and action plan provided with clear objectives for a 3-month period  

  • Ensure Smartsheet’s is updated after each meeting and is regularly checked for inaccuracies / updates / evidence uploads  

  • Provide support with cases when they do not meet threshold level, supporting county with an agreed plan of action and follow up  

  • Provide telephone and email support as required by county - sometimes out of hours  

  • Provide guidance and share best practise on how counties can move towards compliance in safeguarding and strive for Leading Organisation status  

  • Strategic liaison with CEO’s, Board Safeguarding Leads and Lead Officers to ensure consistent Safeguarding standards across the County network 

  • Provide support with recruitment of new CSO’s as required from application to interview and induction 

  • Ensure exit and induction processes are completed fully for CSO’s 

  • Conduct audits & QAC’s as required by your line manager  

  • Embed and promote safeguarding practises across the business by attending county led initiatives such as conferences, cluster meetings, workshops etc 

  • Ensure the Cricket Regulator safeguarding processes are followed when Safeguarding Team support is required 

  • Ensure Safe Hands policies and guidance are up to date and revised when dictated by legislation or following lessons learnt as per the request of your line manager  

  • Support development and implementation of digital safeguarding solutions including LLC  

  • Develop and deliver safeguarding training to ensure the needs of the cricket network are met including Board Safeguarding Training, Committee Training etc 

  • Host webinars and provide training when required by your line manager 

  • Complete project work as requested by your line manager 

  • Plan, attend and deliver as required, the annual safeguarding conference as per your line manager  

  • Support any additional areas of work across the safeguarding team, as requested by your line manager including Case Management Team, Managed Participants and Vetting Panel 

  • Any other duties as required by your line manager  

YOU’LL HAVE

  • A proven professional background in safeguarding (this could be from statutory or non-statutory background) and the ability to identify good practice and practice that requires improvement

  • Experience of developing safeguarding standards

  • Organisational and time-keeping skills

  • Excellent people skills

  • The ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workloads

  • An understanding of the needs of volunteers

  • Experience of communicating with children and young people to establish their thoughts and ideas

  • The ability to support and challenge individuals at all levels, from club volunteers to Senior managers.

  • An understanding or experience of cricket or other sport will be useful

  • A proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, with an understanding of the ever-changing sport environment, which will include unsociable hours and the occasional weekend.
