Job Description

PURPOSE

To develop and implement world leading training content and resources for umpires officiating primarily in the recreational game in England and Wales. To recruit, retain and develop a national umpire tutor team responsible for the effective delivery of ECB umpire training.

YOU’LL BE DOING

General

  • To be a subject matter expert on the development, implementation and delivery of training programmes for recreational umpires.

  • To remain up to date with developments, trends and thinking that relate to the training of match officials, in cricket and other sports.

Content and Resources

  • To develop and implement introductory training programmes for umpires officiating in different forms of the game.

  • To develop and implement continuous learning opportunities and CPD programmes for recreational umpires across all forms of the game.

  • To develop and implement content and resources suitable for online, virtual and face to face delivery.

  • To identify innovative ways to regularly share training content with recreational umpires.

  • To develop content and resources that are inspiring, motivational and engaging and which contribute to a consistently positive learning experience.

  • To be a role model in the delivery of virtual and face delivery of training content.

Tutor Workforce

  • To manage a national umpire tutor team – to include its recruitment, retention and development.

  • To ensure that the delivery of umpire training and development programmes is of the highest standard – inspiring, engaging and motivating.

  • To ensure that the national umpire tutor team remains up to date in its thinking and application of modern training techniques.

Experience and qualifications

  •  Developing formal and informal learning content and resources (online, virtual and face to face)

  • Delivering training to adults and young people

  • Working with a diverse and remote volunteer workforce

  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of learning content

  • Of high-level sports officiating

  • Of training and developing mentors, coaches and tutors

  • Of successful collaboration with external organisations

  • Of delivering innovative solutions

  • A teaching and or/ learning and development qualification would be desirable
