Job Description

To deliver a high-quality HRBP service to Comic Relief, actively contributing to the development and effective implementation of the HR Strategy and broader organisational objectives. To provide a people-centric approach helping people to bring their best self to work and achieve their goals by offering customised yet scalable and impactful People solutions.                                                      

Key responsibilities:

Business Partnering

  •  Work with the HR Manager to advise and lead across all areas of HR from policy and process to employee relations, talent acquisition, coaching and development.

  • Provide high quality HR expertise and advice to different teams through proactive, innovative and solutions-focused business partnering, throughout the planning and delivery of their activities and initiatives.

  • Be approachable and provide support to staff and managers during change initiatives as well as during business as usual (performance reviews, recruitment, training etc.) .

Payroll & Budget

  • Collation and submission of monthly payroll data to the outsourced Payroll provider in a timely manner .

  • Ensure all events and related transactions are effectively and efficiently initiated and supported (childcare vouchers, cycle to work schemes, maternity pay).

  • Partner with Finance Business Partners to secure headcount, budget and resources alignment.

  • Answer employee queries on pay

  • Liaise with line managers to check FTCs ending dates every month.

  • Main point of contact for annual payroll audit

  • Manage the monthly pension upload.

Systems, Data and Reporting

  • General day-to-day maintenance to troubleshooting issues with access to the HR System

  • Work with external consultant to ensure improvements to HRIS

  • Create monthly reports and provide narrative on numbers

 

People Management

  • Proactively undertake business planning, prioritise activities and set clear and realistic objectives based on existing capacity and expertise, in order to manage workloads and maintain high engagement and wellbeing.

  • Provide balanced, constructive feedback and undertake effective performance management and appraisal to embed accountability and continuous quality improvement

  • Supporting the professional development and growth of staff, completing and reviewing personal development plans, and ensuring compliance with mandatory training

  • Maintain regular two way communication and dialogue with staff, ensuring information is cascaded and escalated as needed.

  • Adhere to Comic Relief’s Management Standards and ensure adherence to Comic Relief policies and behaviour standards by team members. 

Person specification

Essential criteria

  • CIPD qualified or studying towards a CIPD qualification.

  • Significant experience in an HR Business Partner or HR Adviser role

  • Experience in payroll management.

  • Collaborative worker able to work closely with leadership teams

  • Skilled in developing HR plans/initiatives and aligning people management practices to support business objectives

  • Curious, critical thinker and skilled in problem-solving

  • Solid knowledge of employment law and its application

  • Skilled and adaptable communicator.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in Project Management/Agile HR practices

  • Analytical/Reporting Skills: Comfort with HR data and using data to provide insights to help advise and influence business decisions.

  • Experience in Change Management Initiatives

  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel Skills
