Job Description

Introduction to the Role

This role operates from within the HarperCollins 360 business unit, a global publishing and distribution initiative within HarperCollins. Harper360 is responsible for the distribution, marketing, publicity, and sales of HarperCollins Christian Publishing & HarperCollins Focus, into the UK marketplace.

The position is responsible for managing and driving the performance of a diverse portfolio of world-renowned HCCP & HCF authors and brands across a range of key adult and children’s genres and the gift range of titles. You will help manage the publication programme and the sales budget, adding value and securing optimum promotional space across varied sales environments, as well as shadowing and supporting the Affiliate publisher with UK publishing decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute on specific sales action plans to ensure revenue growth in all product groups and formats,from initial introduction to close.

  • Identify and map potential non-traditional customers, generating leads for new opportunities across all sales channels, including non-bookshop businesses, author sales, and special orders. Collaborate with Specialty Sales in the US to explore custom opportunities, with the objective of increasing revenue and profitability.

  • Organise the divisions presence at trade events such as roadshows and book fairs.

  • Take accountability for the performance for your divisional titles and imprints, delivering on agreed targets and objectives with a focus on profitable selling.

  • Management and development of the Senior Sales and Marketing Executive.

 Skills and Responsibilities:

  • A leader within Sales and within the business, demonstrating both individual accountability and a commitment to coaching and developing those around you, inspiring a strong team spirit and a high-performance ethos.

  • Financially aware; able to make informed predictions and analyse results to inform future decisions.

  • A team player: effective with all colleagues, willing to help others where necessary, and contributing as widely as possible to our international success for the Export Team.

  • Experience of non-trade and trade publishing account management

  • Demonstrable experience of exceeding sales quotas

  • Experience of producing sales presentations including spreadsheets and graphs

  • Confidence with sales analysis and sales data

  •  Able to demonstrate and communicate awareness of the markets for our books, and how the divisional strategies and publishing can fit these markets.

  • Must be able to align core responsibilities and projects with HCCP/HCF’s goals, mission, vision, and values.

  • Develop a positive and productive relationship with Senior stakeholders in the UK and US business.

  •   An aptitude for selling results-driven, entrepreneurial, ambitious, strong on relationships, and able to adapt to customers’ requirements but also to push them to support our priorities.

  • Must be able to work under pressure and to deadlines.

  • Make decisive and well-calculated decisions based on the available information.
