Job Description
We are looking for a Sales and Business Development Manager to develop Collins business in the UK Trade channels, across education and reference, supporting the Sales Director. The role should develop sales and market position with a particular emphasis on online channels, including Amazon, and developing business within specialist and other trade channels. Ideally based in the Collins offices in Glasgow this role would have a particular responsibility for Scottish and Northern English markets.
Key Accountabilities:
To grow Collins sales in the UK, working across multiple channels and with the Collins team in London, Glasgow and Honley
To work with the wider Collins team to ensure our presence on Amazon remains market leading
To work with the Collins team, under the direction of the Sales Director, to develop the growth plans and identify new opportunities, with particular emphasis on specialist retail and wholesale markets appropriate to the Collins Reference lists
To build and nurture relationships with a wide range of retailers
Market Research. To provide feedback to colleagues on market trends and competition activity.
To work with the Sales Director and the other members of the sales team to identify new publishing opportunities and gaps in the market
To ensure Collins is a highly visible brand.
Skills Required:
Must have the ability to demonstrate commercial sense
Should be able to demonstrate an understanding of online retailing
Proactive, resourceful, entrepreneurial and can demonstrate strong negotiating skills
Fluent in English essential
Results and market driven with selling and business development skills
Must be an excellent communicator, self starter and highly self motivated.
Must have good IT skills, particularly in the use of spreadsheets and presentations.
A sales background could be an advantage but is not essential
Experience in sales presentations and building customer relationships will be an advantage but is not essential.
Must hold current UK Driving Licence.
