Job Description

The overall purpose of this role is to:

Strategically lead and manage a world class officiating programme which inspires the next generation of officials whilst ensuring a diverse workforce promoted through a culture of inclusivity, fairness and transparency throughout recreational and professional cricket officials. They will do this by expertly leading and managing the officiating team with a clear direction and structure to ensure the effective delivery of the strategic plan.

YOU'LL BE DOING

1.    In partnership with the MD for County Cricket develop, manage and lead the delivery of the strategic plans for recreational and first-class cricket officials

2.    Annually review and develop the Umpire and Scorers officiating performance management criteria to ensure there’s a transparent and evidence-based system in operation

3.    Strategically lead the implementation of a fair, open and transparent official appointment system throughout recreational and professional cricket

4.    Strategically lead the delivery of a diverse, open and inclusive Umpire and Scorers men and women’s pathway

5.    Communication with all internal stakeholders to promote areas of commonality whilst embedding the strategic and operational needs of the department.

6.    Ensure the communication and relationships with external stakeholders is robust and promotes collaborative working.

7.    Work with the CCB’s to ensure that officiating strategic priorities are embedded in their planning and central funding priorities.

8.    Strategically lead and manage the delivery of an official’s membership association

9.    Strategically lead an official’s education system to meet the needs from recreational to professional cricket.

10.  Work with the officiating team to ensure that all marketing and promotional materials are diverse and inclusive

YOU'LL HAVE

Knowledge:

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of the issues and opportunities of the sports sector

  • Degree level or similar experience in areas such as sports development, sports studies, sports science, health and exercise sciences, physical education, or sport business management.

  • Demonstrate what effective Performance Management look like

 

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in directing and managing a complex organisation in the field of sport

  • A proven track record of effective working with partnership organisations, including in a leadership role

  • Developing and driving a culture of effective Performance Management from a leadership perspective

  • Experience of creating an environment with a focus on learning and development

  • Experience of working with a volunteer workforce

  • Experience in producing and directing the implementation of strategic and business plans, and responsibility for the management and development of staff to achieve the objectives

  • Experience of developing and managing positive, beneficial long-term strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Actively promoting and influencing a diverse workforce

 

Skills:

  • Effective influencing, coaching, negotiation and conflict management skills

  • Effective interpersonal, communication and presentational skills

  • Ability to plan strategically and deliver operationally

  • Able to manage change positively whilst under pressure

  • Has a commitment to personal and professional development
