Job Description
Introduction to the role
To research and gather information for a variety of maps and cartographic databases, and to provide this content in a timely and cost-effective manner for map creation projects. You will adhere to editorial policy and guidelines to ensure that all content is up-to-date and of a high quality.
You will be primarily working on information that feeds into our market leading cartographic products which include The Times atlases, Collins maps, A-Z street maps and Collins Bartholomew digital mapping.
Key tasks and accountabilities
Research and gather geographical information relevant to our mapping.
Edit maps to keep them up-to-date and reflect any recent changes.
Ensure all cartographic information gathered adheres to editorial policy and standards.
Work with the cartographic team to ensure best possible information sources are used to create and maintain content.
Ensure that all work is done to set deadlines.
Your first six months
You will gain a full understanding of our cartographic products and the editorial process around keeping them updated. Develop a working relationship with internal team and external freelancers. Work with the team on ensuring smooth process for update cycle of mapping.
Experience required
The ability to gather and interpret information and apply it to mapping.
Experience of geographical information gathering or cartographic editing.
You will have a working knowledge and be able to demonstrate skill in one or more of these key areas: Cartographic Publishing, GIS, Cartographic Editorial work, Cartographic Design or Geographical Business Development.
